A depressing winter…
The last week the temperature has gone as low as -13 degrees, it has been snowing several times and with a icy wind it has been almost impossible to be outside. Still it doesn’t really feel like winter thou…
I guess it’s because of the lack of snow. Like I said it has been snowing several times, but the ground is hardly covered. I don’t even think we could be playing with the sled. We haven’t been able to be outside much the last weeks anyway since a terrible cold has been bothering all of us one after the other…
Looking at facebook makes me even more depressed… It feels like everybody is either sharing pictures of dogs playing in the snow or they are complaining about the snow.
Puppy fever…
Lukas at MAX during the dinner stop on the way home from our kennel visit.
For a long time we’ve been talking about getting a second dog and the breed that we’ve talking about the most is the Samoyed. Since we had never met a Samoyed and we don’t know anybody that owns one either, we went to the dog show in Ronneby Brunnspark this summer to meet some dogs and talk to their owners. That day I just fell in love with the breed and with one dog in particular: Minus – Swedsam’s Fahrenheit.
After quite some time looking for more information about the breed and looking for different kennels, we visited Christina Bjerstedt-Ohlsson of the Swedsam’s Kennel last Tuesday. We really had a good time while being there and it was good to see her dogs in the home environment.
Now we are sure we want to add a Samoyed to the family in the next year or two, so now we just have to wait until there is a suitable puppy available at the perfect time. In the mean time we will continue to visit more kennels and to learn even more about the breed.
The waiting will be hard thou, because I want one now!
Home baked knäckebröd
This weekends baking result: gluten-free knäckebröd.
Home baked bread
Yesterdays baking result: a gluten-free fiber bread and a sourdough rye bread.
Gothenburg
The two of us went for a few days to Gothenburg!
During these days we had a great time and besides shopping we also had a look at the Götheborg (a replica of the Ostindiefararen Götheborg which ran aground outside Gothenburg in 1745) and the Göteborgs Naturhistoriska Museum.
On Tuesday evening we had dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe and I just have to say that there burgers are just perfect. If you rather eat a good steak you just have to visit A Hereford Beefstouw! It was an expensive dinner, but I don’t think I ever had such a perfect steak before.
Sourdough
My first successful sourdough bread!
After several problems with the sourdough starter and the oven temperatures I finally managed to bake an eatable sourdough bread! I’ve to admit that I used a small amount of traditional yeast as well, but hopefully I’ll be able to succeed without yeast soon.
The family reaction: why didn’t you bake more then one loaf of bread?

HAPPY NEW YEAR !
It’s about a year ago I started writing this blog. Lukas has changed a lot during this year: he learned to walk, started daycare and is being his own personality. Quanda continues to be the wonderful dog she’s always been… And she’s finally adapting to our new family life.
It’s to bad I didn’t started with this blog earlier… With far to many things to do all the time I usually don’t take the time to sort the massive amount of pictures that I’m taking. With the blog however the best picture are sorted out and it’s easy to have a quick look what has happened during the passed year.
The pictures above are taken during the end of December. Keep a look out for more pictures of our family’s snow fun!
Winter has come…
Winter has come… with lots of snow! The last week it’s been snowing every day.
All the snow made the bird food outside the kitchen window very popular so we’re able to do some birdwatching every day. Several kinds of birds have found our bird feeder and I’ve tried to take pictures of most of them. The pictures below are taken through the kitchen window, so the quality isn’t perfect…
Great tit, talgoxe, koolmees.
Nuthatch, nötväcka, boomklever.
Blue tit, blåmes, pimpelmees.

Birdwatching
In the beginning of the week we bought a bird feeder and during the week Lukas had lots of fun helping dad to assemble it and fill up the food containers. It’s placed outside the kitchen window. Several birds have already discovered the feeder and during breakfast this morning Lukas and I could observe some of them tasting the food.
Now we need a bird book so we can identify the birds coming to our feeder. Lets hope Lukas gets one from Santa Claus!
One bird was brave enough to sit and eat while I was outside taking some pictures of the bird feeder.

New camera lens
Today I got a new camera lens to my Sony a200 camera. It’s a standard 50 mm lens, which I hope will give better results then the 18-70 mm lens I’ve been using up to now. Here are the first test pictures with the new lens.
