Picture time
Daddy was going to take pictures of Quanda, but Lukas wanted to play with the camera.
Quanda has found a new favorite spot: in the new grass besides the big rock.
Tracking course 5
This weekend was the last time we went to the tracking course. This time we tested a night track without a gunshot and according to the tracking judge that followed us she did a great job. I’m just so proud of her!!!
So now we have to continue training ourselves. To start with I”ll need to find better routines since the last couple of times it didn’t go to well, but I got some great ideas from the others and they also gave me some ideas regarding Quanda’s gunshot problem.
I just feel a little bit sad that the course is already over, but some of us talked about meeting and training together. Let’s hope we can… Quanda just loves to go out in the woods and I think it’s great to do something completely different once and a while.
Tracking course 4
Yesterday Quanda’s training continued and once again she got a night track. The track seemed to be more complicated and she circled several times at the dead-end part, but she did get back on track.
This time we also fired a gunshot to test her reaction and it did throw her of quite a bit. It took some time before she started tracking again, but she managed to finish the track. Hopefully she gets used to gunshots during tracking since this is a part of the tracking tests we are training for.
The pictures where taken during the tracking session two weeks ago and more photos are available in the gallery.
Barbecuing
Saturday all of us went to my sister-in-law for a barbecue. It was actually not only us, but Lukas’ grandparents and some other relatives as well. It was the first time Lukas got to eat his dinner outside. After dinner he managed to activate most of the guests by walking around with their help.
Quanda also got to come along and she spend the afternoon playing with Ozzy and Leopold and barking at everything moving around on the other side of the fence…
Playing outside
Today I took the camera outside to take some pictures of Lukas in the garden. On the first picture he’s lying in the little forest area exploring the wood anemones which are in flower all over forest floor. On the other two pictures he is observing Quanda while she’s running around us.
Quanda really enjoys running around at high speed and today I managed to take some action shots. It’s fascinating that she manages to take the turns in time and doesn’t hurt herself.
I just have to include this picture of Quanda as well. She’s such a nice dog!
Tracking course 3
This morning it was time for Quanda’s second night track and once again she did an amazing job. This time the track was a little more complicated with a dead-end part, but she managed to follow the track without problems. Next time we’ll even try with a gun shot and hopefully we can soon enter another test!
One of the others took pictures during our tracking session today so I should be able to post some of them soon.

Tracking course 2
Quanda tried her first night-track today and she did very well!
The track was laid yesterday evening around 6 o’clock and today Quanda managed to follow the track, which had been resting for about 17 or 18 hours. She got sidetracked twice by a very fresh moose trail that crossed the track a couple of times, but she managed to get back on track without problems.
It’s nice spending some time outdoors with Quanda in the woods. Once again the weather wasn’t that great, but with better outdoor clothes I kept myself warm. As usual during these training days we had a fire going, so I had barbecued sausage for lunch. I also got one of the others to take some pictures of Quanda, so hopefully I will soon be able to update the outdated picture on Quanda’s page.
Tracking course 1
Yesterday was the start of Quanda’s tracking course. Quanda got excited as soon as she saw me packing her tracking gear the evening before and when we got up in the morning she understood directly something fun was about to happen. Dogs are just so smart…
When we arrived at the training site she directly realized what was going to happen and got anxious to get started, but the tracks need to rest a couple of hours. I hardly managed to walk here during this time as she started to search for the track directly.
When Quanda got to start 2-3 hours later, she did a great job! It’s just amazing what she can accomplish if she wants to. Next week things get serious as we’ll try a track that has been resting over night for the first time…
I had a great time yesterday as I got to get of the house and spend some alone time with Quanda. It was kinda chilly yesterday and I got really cold… I guess I have to invest in some better outdoor clothes. I’m already looking forward to next weekend to try Quanda on a night old track, but hopefully we get some time during the week to try a more complicated track by ourselves.
Picture time
Yesterday I managed to get outside to take some new photos of Quanda. This head shot is one of best photos I’ve managed to take of Quanda in a long time.
Lukas and Quanda lying still long enough for me to take a photo while looking at dad.
